Seeking God’s blessings for the year 2025

Our aim tonight is to seek God’s blessings for the coming year.

Text Isaiah 55; Matt 11:28-30

Both our readings invite us to come to God for His blessings.

Why God’s blessings?

  1. 1. Due to our fallen nature, humans are not used to doing things that will bless us.

  2. However, God gives us what we truly need (e.g., air to breathe and the ability to make wealth (Deut. 8:18; atonement (1 John 1:8-2:2), eternal life (John 3:16) etc

  3. People have realised that unless the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain (Psalm 127). ‘House’ here refers to; life, family, marriage, health, wealth, spirituality, peace etc..

  4. The blessings of God add no sorrow but persecutions (Proverbs 10:22; Mark 10:29-31).

  5. Those whom God blesses come to know that their future is blessed. Thus, they receive a vision about their future (Hebrews 11). For example, Jeremiah 1:4-7; 29:10-11; Joseph (Gen 50:24-25) Jesus (John 14:1-5) Hebrews 11). There are challenges ahead of us; you also need direction to navigate the future.

SOME OF THE MEN WERE DESPERATE FOR GOD'S BLESSINGS: JACOB (Genesis

32:22-26), and Jairus (Mark 5:21-24).

HOW TO RECEIVE GOD’S BLESSINGS?
Forsake your bad ways and follow God's instructions (e.g., Isaiah 55:6-11).
