Demand for counselling is high: Come to Jesus Christ, the great counsellor.

Demand for counselling is rising because life is getting tougher, and the distress level is rising.

Counselling sessions are a great opportunity for people to turn their lives around. There are many approaches to counselling: psychotherapy, mental health), family, youth, singles, trauma.

Our aim today is to understand Jesus' approach to counselling as outlined in scripture.

Whenever the church or the minister does counselling, it’s Jesus doing it because we ask and do things in Jesus’s name (Luke 4:40-41; John 14:12-14; James 5:13-20.

Jesus's approach

  1. Jesus’ approach to counselling will give you your immediate needs, restore you, give you eternal life, and teach you how to live victoriously. For example, Saul went to Samuel to seek help to find his lost donkeys, not knowing God had a different plan for him; Saul returned home as anointed King ( 1 Sam 9-10). Through counselling, people are blessed, and many receive salvation in Jesus’ name.

  2. Forgiveness of sins: For some people, they need forgiveness to be restored (Luke 5:17-28).

  3. Dealing with the enemy responsible for a woman  bound for 18 years (Luke 13:10-17)

  4. Jesus gives life to restore people (e.g., a woman with the issue of blood-Mark 5:25-34

  5. Jesus teaches how to live to avoid the problem (e.g., a woman caught in adultery John 8:1-11)

What does Jesus expect from those who need His help?
